Session Info
The Basics: Want awesome photos? Shoot me an email, text, call.
Email, and even texting, is my preferred method, just because it helps keep me organized, but feel free to contact me in the way that’s best for you. I am a new mom, so phone calls can’t always be answered right away, but I will get back to you. Keep in mind, evenings and Sundays are reserved for time with my family, so those inquiries will be handled the next day. I schedule sessions through the week, evenings and Saturdays. We’ll go over any questions you may have to get you ready for your session. I don’t require payment before the session, but please note that no-show appointments will not be rescheduled. So, if something comes up, just please let me know beforehand.
99% of the photos I post to the website and Facebook are done in my home studio and on, or around my family farm, both south of Rockwood. After your session, I’m like a little kid at Christmas and absolutely can’t wait to upload your images to see what we captured. If you have Facebook, I get sneak peeks up the same or next day. Within a few short days of your session, again sometimes as soon as the next day, I have your proofs uploaded into an online viewing and ordering gallery. From there you can show family members and friends to help you decide what to order. After your order is submitted, you’ll then be notified when the order comes in. Again, usually around a week. Who doesn’t love a quick turnaround!
You’ve booked your session, now what?
After marking your session date and time down on your calendar so you don’t forget, it’s time to decide what you’re going to wear. Chances are, these images will be hanging on your walls for years to come, so you need to look your best. Sure, you can go with basic black. It’s classic and easy to coordinate, but why not take the next step an accent it with some gray and/or white, or even another color. This is really going to help bring attention to each individual in the photo.
Not afraid of color? Use it! Browns, creams and neutrals, in my opinion, look the best. They accent skin tones and offer a little more to the eye than just one basic color. Have the men wear browns, women wear peach and the kids in turquoise. Don’t be afraid to mix purples with aqua, grays with yellow, blues with green, etc. But, as much as I love to see color, I recommend staying away from super bright red, oranges and yellows. When choosing colors, just make sure they complement each other, ie: don’t go with bright red and forest green, unless you want to look like a Christmas tree. ?
Solids are great, and plaids are fine too. Do stay away from logos and screen prints, especially large ones as they can really take the focus away from the subject. While we’re on the subject of no-no’s, I wouldn’t advise wearing tennis shoes. Again, they can be distracting, and that’s not something you want. On the subject of shoes though, we do walk around a bit during sessions, so stilettos probably wouldn’t be ideal unless you want to carry them and wear flats while walking.
Seniors
I can’t tell you how excited I am that you’re considering me for capturing your senior photos. Momma always said, “you shouldn’t have favorites”. But hands down, seniors are my absolute favorite! What’s not to love?! Each of you is unique and outgoing. No two sessions are ever the same. It’s great! And it hasn’t been all that long since I was a senior myself, so you don’t have to worry about not being able to connect with a stuffy old guy that tries posing you in front of a boring blank wall.
What should you bring to your session? Everything! After the initial sitting fee, senior sessions are priced by outfit change, so it’s up to you how many you want. Bring whatever you think you want to wear and I go over everything with you before each session to discuss what is going to look the best. And don’t be afraid to accessorize. It’s so much fun for me to help you with this. I do recommend bringing least one pair of jeans, even if your session is in the middle of summer. For studio shots I can’t tell you how many people have questioned wearing just a plain long sleeved black shirt, but then falling in love with the images, so keep that in mind too. Want to wear a prom dress in the middle of a creek? Bring it on! If you play sports or have a hobby, bring anything along that you can think of and we’ll use it for a prop. I’m an animal lover, so don’t hesitate to bring your favorite pooch for a few shots either. I pay great attention to detail and often joke that if the client looks bad, I look bad, but it really is true. Anything goes with me, so don’t hold back on ideas.
Newborns, and the first year
Since becoming a mother, newborn photography is quickly becoming my passion. Nothing is more precious than capturing them during the first few weeks of life. They’ll never be that small again, so don’t wait until it’s too late. Whether or not you choose me to do this, please make sure your photographer is trained. Many newborn shots seen online are composites and should not be attempted without the proper training. Nothing is more important to me than your newborn’s safety. After choosing the newborn package that’s right for you, there is an option to add on the Baby Love Program to continue capturing first year milestones.
I also shoot maternity, trash the dress, engagement, weddings, maternity and boudoir. For more information on any of these sessions, you can reach me at kerihamiltonphotography@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
